Poria cocos is the dried sclerotia of Poria cocos, a Polyporaceae fungus. As a precious traditional Chinese medicine, it has a medicinal history of more than 2000 years in China. The main active ingredients in Poria cocos are Poria cocos polysaccharides (accounting for over 75%) and Poria cocos triterpenoid acids (accounting for about 0.2%). Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Poria cocos triterpenoid acids are the main pharmacological components of Poria cocos, with obvious anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulatory effects. The triterpene acids of Poria cocos mainly include: Pachymic acid, Pachymic acid A, Pachymic acid B, Pachymic acid AM, Pachymic acid G, dehydrogenated Pachymic acid, dehydroebric acid, dehydrothumonic acid, etc.
