The flower buds of lilac are commonly used traditional Chinese medicine and are one of the traditional imported "southern medicines" in China, which was first recorded in the "Treatise on Medicinal Properties". Modern research shows that eugenol contains volatile oil, which mainly contains eugenol acid, acetyl eugenol acid, eugenol, methyl n-pentanone, methyl n-heptanone, Vanilla planifolia aldehyde, etc. It has antibacterial and anthelmintic effects. It is used as an aromatic, antispasmodic and wind expelling agent to treat stomach diseases, abdominal pain, vomiting, Neuralgia, toothache and other diseases.
Clove is a world-renowned spice plant used in cooking, cigarette additives, incense additives, tea making, and more. Clove was introduced in China in the 1950s and achieved initial success. It can bloom and bear fruit normally, but its yield is extremely unstable. The yield of individual flower buds varies greatly, sometimes up to 10 times. Therefore, the high-yield cultivation techniques of Clove and the use of excellent mother plants for asexual reproduction are worth further research.

1. Antibacterial effect: Ether extract containing 1% concentration of clove, water extract or Sabouraud culture medium containing 8% concentration of clove decoction have inhibitory effects on various pathogenic fungi such as Aspergillus versicolor and Candida albicans. At higher concentration, it also has inhibitory effect on Cryptococcus neoformans. Alcohol leaching solution is similar to ether leaching solution, but water leaching solution is poor.
2. Antifungal effect: ethanol extract 1:100, clove oil and Syringol 1:8000-1:16000 have inhibitory effects on Nocardia stellata, xanthophyton shilanicum, microsporomyces gypsiformis and dermatophyte inguinalis.
3. Insecticidal effect: water or alcohol extract has paralyzing or killing effect on Ascaris suum in vitro. Clove oil taken orally by dogs infected with Ascaris suum is 0.5-1.Og/kg, which has a worm repellent effect, but once taken, it cannot completely drive away the ascaris suum. Clove oil is superior to decoction.
4. Gastric function: Clove is an aromatic stomach tonic that can alleviate abdominal bloating, enhance digestive ability, and alleviate nausea and vomiting.
5. Pain relieving effect: Clove oil (dropped in small amounts) can disinfect the cavities of decayed teeth, damage their nerves, and thus alleviate toothache.
